I have somewhat enjoyed this semester and learning how to enrich my lesson planning with the effective use of ICT. There have been challenges such as remembering to devote time to blog and some hiccups while on prac when things didn’t always go to plan. BUT I have really enjoyed my three weeks in class and have realised that I still love it ! I can’t wait to have my own class and to use my new found knowledge from the course to hopefully make a difference to my students and their learning. One more day to go and then it’s back into the last piece of assessment and to the real world. Good luck to those who are ready for the next stage of their uni adventure 🙂

I’m really glad that I completed this certificate. I was surprised at how much I already knew as well Bec. I do agree with you that it will be a great resource to use in the future.Well done on completing your certificate as well.
This week has seen many lessons come and go in my room with most of them being a success. I have tried extremely hard to use ICT to engage and develop my students learning and for the most part have been successful. The highlight of the week was maths when the students played a maths game called underwater counting. Oh gosh was it a hit !!
The interesting part of a lesson came about when I decided ( in my infinite wisdom) to use a blue tooth speaker in order to play music from You tube that wads needed to keep the beat for their music component of carpet time. My son had lent me his speaker and I had used it without problem before school. I went to use it during the lesson and who would believe it , it was flat !! So the poor students had to have my phone alone .. All was not lost but It does help to have a plan B !!
Overall prac is going really well with the class beginning to enjoy the use of ICTs. Rather pleasing to say the least.
Today in one of my lessons on professional experience I introduced my class to a maths game called Underwater Counting. It was a fantastic and engaging way for the students in my class to further develop their number awareness. Found on the site Topmarks , it truly had the students mesmerized and wanting to fully engage in the lesson. Used as a warm up for our maths lesson the students worked so well that we had enough time to play it again to conclude their lesson. I will certainly be looking further into this website and hopefully will find many other engaging activities to excite my students. It was great to see them so excited and ready to learn.

I am really looking forward to hearing more about FUTABA Tracey as I am also completing my prac in a special education class. Looks great so far !
Glad you’re enjoying your prac.
This has come up a little this week. I have endeavored to use ICTs to become engaged and to assist my students to further develop their learning. However using various ICT seems to overwhelm my students. I will keep persisting however in an attempt to get them used to the many ways to use ICTs within their learning. Wish me luck !
Pausing and taking time out of the last hectic two days to blog has reminded me that I really love being in the classroom. I am really enjoying my prac so far after mingling with the students and beginning to build a rapport. Today I had two lessons( English and Maths) and I’d like to think that I used ICT effectively to transform their learning. I have a prep to year two class of special education students and found that they quite enjoyed the clips that I had found to use as warm ups, but the PowerPoint was a little too adventurous for them to deal with . Such is the life of a student teacher I guess. I will use this to further develop my professional knowledge. I do realise that it is early days and there is so much more to learn about my students. Overall it was a good day with the students working hard in my lessons, so even though one element didn’t go totally as well as I hoped I am still happy overall with the day. Hope you’re all enjoying professional experience 🙂
